Client Support - Component Installation Protocol
Global Presence is willing to install third party COM objects to meet our customers' needs. Below are the requirements each component must meet. If you have a component you wish to have installed and you feel it meets the following requirements please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The component must be in widespread use. An object written by you and used by your friends doesn't meet this requirement.
The component object must not be CPU intensive. In other words, we will not allow a component that may slow down the operation of any server.
The component can not introduce any security risks to our servers. If there
is the slightest concern that a particular will expose the server to security risks, the component will be disallowed. Objects that manipulate the file system or registry fall into this category.
The component must be stable. Because we operate each virtual server in the same memory space as the server, poorly behaving component can crash the server. If we feel a particular object is causing stability problems for a server, we will either not allow it, or if it is already on the server, we will remove it.
We will not operate evaluation versions of software. If the license agreement for a particular component requires the purchase of a license, the customer must provide a valid license number in order for Global Presence technicians to install the component on our servers (assuming it has passed the previously mentioned requirements).
